Oatmeal topped with Almonds and Banana Slices

Oatmeal, a wholesome breakfast classic, takes on new heights when adorned with sliced almonds and ripe bananas. This delightful combination seamlessly blends textures and flavours for a satisfying morning meal.

Start with a warm bowl of creamy oatmeal, it's comforting embrace setting the stage. Sprinkled generously with crunchy, toasted almonds, it offers a nutty depth and a healthy dose of protein.

The crowning glory, though, is the banana slices - sweet, creamy, and slightly caramelised when gently heated.

Their natural sweetness complements the oats, while the almonds provide a delightful crunch. Together, they create a symphony of taste and nourishment that jumpstarts your day.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup rolled oats

• 2 cups water (you can also use milk or a milk substitute for creamier oatmeal)

• Pinch of salt (optional)

• 1 ripe banana

• 1/4 cup sliced almonds

• Honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)

• Cinnamon (optional, for extra flavour)

Instructions:

1. Gather your ingredients: Make sure you have all the ingredients on hand before you start.

2. Prepare the banana:

• Remove the fully matured banana from its skin and cut it into slender circular pieces. Set aside.

3. Toast the almonds:

• Place the sliced almonds in a dry skillet or frying pan over medium heat.

• Toast the almonds, stirring frequently, until they turn golden brown and become fragrant. This should take about 3-5 minutes.

• Retrieve the crisped almonds from the pan and place them in a separate container.

4. Cook the oatmeal:

• In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water (or milk) to a boil.

• Add a pinch of salt if desired.

• Stir in 1 cup of rolled oats.

• Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

• Cook until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and reached your desired level of thickness. If you like a thicker oatmeal, you can cook it for a few more minutes.

5. Sweeten the oatmeal (optional):

• If you prefer your oatmeal sweeter, you can drizzle honey or maple syrup over the cooked oatmeal and stir to combine. Adjust the sweetness to your taste.

6. Assemble the dish:

• Spoon the cooked oatmeal into a serving bowl.

• Position the banana slices atop the oatmeal in an organised manner.

• Sprinkle the toasted almonds over the banana slices.

7. Add extra flavour (optional):

• If you like, you can sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over the top of the dish for added flavour.

8. Serve and enjoy:

• Your oatmeal topped with almonds and banana slices is ready to be enjoyed. Serve it warm and customise it to your taste by adding more honey, cinnamon, or any other toppings you like.
